Hey guys! What's up? Sorry for the long wait for update. Hope you're doing well.
Now, I am going to share with you a recipe of Filipino style, "how to make a Creamy Carbonara".
Equipment/Materials needed:
- Sauté pan
- Kitchen spoon
- Knife
- Cooking pot
- Strainer pasta
- Measuring cup
- Cheese grater
Ingredients:
- 3/4 lb. - Spaghetti
- 1 piece - Knorr cube (beef)
- 7 pieces - Ham
- 15 ounces - All-purpose cream
- 6 tablespoons - Grated parmesan cheese ( Parmesan cheese is not available so I used Eden cheese)
- 1 piece - White onion, chopped
- 2 cloves - Garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon - Salt
- 2 quarts - water
Let's proceed:
1. Cook the spaghetti pasta by pouring water in a cooking pot. Let boil. Add salt and put the spaghetti into the pot. Cook for 12 minutes or until al dente. Remove the pasta by using strainer and set aside. Save 1/4 cup of water used to cooked spaghetti.
2. Cook the ham until crispy. Do this by placing each piece in a pan. Cook in medium heat for 2 minutes. Flip the ham and cook the opposite side for another 2 minutes. Continue performing the same steps until each piece gets crispy. Then set aside. Save the ham grease.
3. Prepare the carbonara sauce by heating 3 tablespoons of ham grease. Sauté onion and garlic.
4. Once the onion softens, pour all-purpose cream into the pan. Stir and add 1/4 cup water.
5. Add Knorr cube, Stir until well-blended.
6. Put chopped ham into the sauce. Stir.
7. Add the cooked spaghetti pasta. Toss until pasta gets totally coated with sauce.
8. Add grated cheese. Toss. Add more ham.
9. Transfer to a serving plate. Serve and enjoy!
For my garnishing, we used tomato rose and leaves of parsley. For those who will asking how to make tomato rose:
Beginning at the top of a tomato, peel the tomato skin with a sharp utility knife. The garnish works best if the peel is 3/4" to 1" wide, is a continuous peel, and the peel is thin with very little flesh attached. Lie peel flat with flesh side up. Roll up the peel.
